Kid Chef Cranberry Apple Tart


Kid Chefs can make this festive treat for holiday parties to delight their families. Cranberries are anti- inflammatory, antioxidants that can prevent urinary tract infections and stomach ulcers, making them one of the world’s healthiest foods. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour 1/3 cup of water, 2 tbsp fresh organic orange juice, ¼ cup of sugar, and 3 tbsp maple syrup in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and pour into a 9×9 baking dish. Rinse 8 ounces of organic cranberries and peel two organic Granny Smith apples. Layer the apples and cranberries in the baking dish. Melt 2 tbsp organic butter, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cinnamon, and a dash of ginger and pour over the fruit. In a mixing bowl, add ½ cup organic whole wheat pastry flour, ½ cup organic old fashioned rolled oats, 1 tsp baking powder, and 1/8 tsp cinnamon. Add 4 tbsp butter cut into small pieces and mix with your fingers to make crumbs. Sprinkle the crumbs over the fruit. Bake for 40 minutes, cool a half an hour, and serve.
