New family memories and traditions are created when kids, parents, and grandparents bake gingerbread cookies in the kitchen together. Kids Chefs can mix 7 tbsp of organic butter and ¾ cup of organic sugar with a fork until smooth. In another bowl, mix 2 cups of organic whole wheat pastry flour, ¾ tsp baking powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, 1 ½ tsp ginger, ¼ tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cinnamon, and ¼ tsp sea salt. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix with fork. In a small bowl mix ¼ cup organic molasses, juice from ½ organic orange, 1 tsp organic arrowroot starch, and 1 tbsp water and mix into the dough. Press the dough in a flat circle between 2 sheets of parchment paper and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle the bread board, rolling pin, and cookie cutters with flour. Roll out the dough to ½ inch thick and use the cookie cutters to cut the shapes. Place the cookies with room between them on baking sheets covered with parchment paper and bake 10 minutes. Roll the scraps of cookie dough into a ball and flatten between the sheets of paper and refrigerate to repeat the process using all the dough. After the gingerbread cookies have cooled, prepare frosting by mixing ½ cup organic powdered sugar, 4 tsp juice from ½ organic orange and drizzle frosting on each cookie with artistic individual decorations.
