Kid Chefs can make Cheesy Biscuits using all organic ingredients, by grating ¾ cup sharp organic cheddar cheese. Sauté in 1 tbsp butter ¼ cup diced red onion, 1 diced garlic clove, and finely cut sprigs of parsley, rosemary, sage, oregano, and thyme for 5 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Sift together 2 cups of organic whole wheat pastry flour, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp baking powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, ¼ tsp sea salt. Cut in 6 tbsp cold butter, crumbling into the flour with your fingers. Stir the sautéed mixture and cheese into the flour. Stir in 2/3 cup organic buttermilk slowly until moist and gently knead the dough. Pat to ¾“thickness on a floured breadboard, cut 16 biscuits using a 2” round cutter. Place biscuits on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes until light brown. Cheesy Biscuits are delicious with a cup of soup, as a snack, or with any family meal.
