Kids can find the secret to the best tasting Cherry Cobbler, when they use fresh local in season organic cherries. Ancient Greek kids ate sweet juicy cherries right on the tree. Cherries are a great snack and also delicious juiced, in sauces, in oatmeal, in preserves, in lemonade, and salads. Cherries are rich in antioxidants, fight inflammations, and relieve stress. Kids can make a yummy Cherry Cobbler by washing 2 cups organic Bing Cherries. Put on plastic gloves to keep the cherries from staining while cutting the cherries in half, and removing the pits. Put the cherry halves in a bowl and double check to make sure all the pits are removed. Preheat the oven 350 degrees. Pour the cherry halves into a 9×9 baking dish with 1 tbsp maple syrup, 2 tbsp sugar, and ¼ tsp cinnamon. In a mixing bowl add ½ cup organic whole wheat flour, ½ cup organic old fashioned rolled oats, 1 tsp baking power, 1/8 tsp cinnamon and mix with a fork. Add 4 tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil and mix with finger to make crumbs. Press the crumbs over the cherries for a crust. Bake for 25 minutes, cool, and enjoy this vegan treat. Kids can know just what is in their food when they grow and cook it themselves.
