Kid Chef Almond Pear Tart

Kids love sweet juicy pears. They are easy to digest, are rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory nutrients, fiber, and phytonutrients that help prevent many chronic diseases, and are good for those with food allergies. Kids can plant a pear tree in a container on the patio. A fall harvest of organic home grown fruit is a Super Food snack for kids. Wash 2 organic Bartlett pears and slice them into a 9×9 baking dish with 2 tbsp organic maple syrup, 1 tsp grated fresh organic ginger and 1 tsp chopped almonds. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl add ½ cup organic whole wheat flour, ½ cup organic old fashioned rolled oats, 1 tsp baking power, 1 tsp chopped almonds, and ¼ tsp cinnamon and mix with a fork. Add 4 tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil and mix to make crumbs. Sprinkle the crumbs over the pears. Bake for 30 minutes and cool.
