Kids Power Lunch

Kids need power lunches to fuel up for school and afterschool activities. Kids can learn to eat healthy lunches by getting involved with how food grows, how to shop for food at the supermarket, and how to prepare food that tastes great and is filled with energy. The Power Lunch Wrap pictured here contains organic veggies, organic Northern White Beans, and a mix of Organic Super Grains (quinoa, millet, and buckwheat).  Kids can read nutrition labels to discover what is inside processed foods and look for sugar, salt, fat, chemicals, preservatives, and additives. The organic label insures that the product is not genetically modified or grown with pesticides or herbicides. Organic fruits, nuts, veggies, whole grains, and beans are the building blocks of a healthy power lunch, where every nutrient the brain needs to flourish can be found, as they are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and omega 3. Organic whole wheat tortillas make great wraps for kids lunches stuffed with grains, beans, salad, and veggies. Kids can check out the bulk section of their health food store to find organic nuts, seeds, and dried fruit to create their own mix. Organic beans are brain power energy food that can be added to wraps, prepared in chili, or added to soups. Nut butters are a favorite with kids on organic whole grain bread. Using a cookie cutter, kids can create fun shapes on different kinds of organic whole grain bread, pita bread, tortillas, flat bread and even waffles. Kids find making power lunches is fun!
