Kids can grow organic basil in a kitchen window box to be handy for adding flavor and nutrition to many dishes. Basil Pesto is a favorite topping for pasta and pizza. When kids grow an organic patio garden, they have access to fresh local in season fruits and veggies. Kids can pick and wash a cup of fresh organic basil and put it in the blender, add 1 clove of garlic, 3 tbsp organic extra virgin olive oil, ¼ cup pine nuts, and ¼ tsp sea salt. Kids can cook 1 ½ cups of organic pasta with a pinch of sea salt. In a steamer, kids can put 1 cup sliced organic green beans, ¼ cup chopped organic zucchini, ¼ cup chopped organic red pepper, 3 sliced organic mushrooms, and ¼ cup chopped organic red onion. Strain the pasta, mix in the veggies, and add the pesto. This colorful dish is not only delicious, but packed with power and energy for active kids.
