Kids Healthy Hiking Snacks

Kids can join their school’s Hiking Club and have adventures in local parks, mountains, and lakes and enjoy taking a break in nature. Local State and National Parks offer different types of trails that range from easy to difficult with treks through amazing landscapes with flowered meadows, spectacular views, and various wildlife. Learning to hike creates strong minds and bodies and boosts endurance. Kids should wear layered clothing, hats, and organic sunscreen. Hikers need to drink plenty of pure water and should bring enough to last the entire hike. Kids also need to bring with them organic energy boosting snacks.

Kids love Energy Balls for an sweet yummy power boost while on the trail.  Homemade organic Energy Balls are usually made with 1 cup organic nuts or seeds or both, 2 – 3 tbsp organic nut butter, and 1 cup organic medjool dates. Kids can use different mixes of nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. Kids can add cinnamon, nutmeg, oats, flax seeds, or chia seeds. For example, kids can roast ½ cup chopped organic raw cashews and ½ cup shredded coconut with a drizzle of coconut oil, cinnamon and turmeric; add ½ cup chopped dried mangoes and ½ cup chopped dates; mix with cashew butter and roll into balls.
